March 31, 2015

Hey Mommy, what’s going on up there in Ut? Sounds like there has been some crazy stuff been going on! Yeah I actually know Arik Mack pretty well, he played with me on some of those teams with the baseball academy and I pitched against him a few times when we played against Mapleton. That is crazy to hear about the accident though, did the other people that were in his car get hurt? The car looked like it was destroyed.. That is sad to hear about that. I am glad have grown up the way I have knowing what I should and shouldn’t do.. I would hate to be in the situation that some kids my age are in right now! So Ty will be selling pesticides? How much will he be making to sell that? I hope he does well if he is going to leave for the whole summer, and I hope he enjoys it up there also! Will he be staying with that kid or who will he be living with? Yeah a couple days ago when we stopped by the Cavasos house they were outside playing baseball so we stopped and played with them for a little bit! It was a lot of fun, we were using a stick and a couple plastic balls, but it was a lot of fun! I think we are going to buy a wiffle ball bat and bring it over to them soon. This last Sunday was pretty crazy here! We first had a wedding at 830am then the lady that got married got baptized right after at like 915, then church starts at 10 and then after church we had another baptism too! It was a great day, a little stressful and crazy, but everything ended up going really well! The wedding was of an investigator that the sisters in my district have been working with, she is a really cool lady and found out she has to be married first before she can be baptized on Tuesday, so she went and bought her wedding license on Wednesday, I interviewed her for her baptism on Friday and they got married and I baptized her before church! Then after my comp baptized Joel, he is a kid we have been working with for a little while, his whole family are members but have gone less active for a couple years, so we have now reactivated them and baptized him on Sunday. This last week has gone by so fast, I am having a hard time remembering everything that went on! On Friday night we played soccer with the ward and then they had a cookout after so that was a lot of fun, and last week they had a big Easter party with all the kids and they asked us to come and do all the activities with the kids so that was a lot of fun also. Other than that things have just been flying by and I am having a hard time even remembering the things that have been going on!! I am super excited for conference this weekend, conference on the mission is so much better, I’m not sure why but it is always really neat. On Saturday in between sessions we will probably go out to some nice restaurant with a bunch of other missionaries because they only broadcast conference in one building down here close to where we are so we that will be fun to see a bunch of the other missionaries and probably go eat somewhere nice with them all. Then on Sunday we should be finding out about transfers, it is pretty likely that either me or my comp get moved because we have been together for a while now, but we will see what happens I guess!! I hope you have a great week Kimbo, send me some pics of brock with his braces! I love you!

March 23, 2015

Birthday party for our cute Josefina!
Playing a little soccer!

Hey Kimbo, How are you doing? How was your week? So we didn’t end up getting hardly any water at all this last winter then it seems like? Are they going to have to start draining some of the reservoirs? I remember talking about having to do that last year, but sounds like we have had another bad water year again. Sounds like Ty has quite the decision to make, where at in Texas would he get sent? Because we see quite a few Vivint workers down here and they always seem to honk and wave at us or stop and talk to us for a sec and usually are from Utah and are members. I cant believe Ty broke up with another girl... he seems like he just hangs out with the girls enough for them to really get attached and then boom kicks them to the curb!! What has he been doing on his free time lately? Where would he work if he didn’t go out of the state? That is to bad to hear about Judy, I didn’t realize at all that she was that old already. That is good that her kids kept Brock entertained though! haha I don’t think I have even met a lot of them, I know I have met I think all of the boys but I don’t remember them very well at all. I am sorry to hear about your eye.. do you have any idea of what it may be at all? It’s kinda weird too, because yesterday my eye started bothering me also, but I think I just have a sty thing on my eye lid. I cant believe Brock is almost into high school, he still seems like such a little baby to me!! He can’t be that old already.. How tall is he now? And how much does he weigh? Right now I am just over 6' 2" still so I think I am done growing for sure, and I weigh like right around 186! I am getting pretty big down here!;) This last week was really good here, we found some really cool people that we are working with that look really good to be getting baptized during April, our baptism of the little 9 yr old got moved though so he will get baptized this Sunday. I really love this area that I am in down here, our area is huge, but we have so many really cool members and investigators right now. The only thing that is tough is dealing with some of the sisters that I have right now in my district. There are constantly problems with one companionship and they just can’t figure things out and just can’t get along.. which leads to them always calling me and then I always have to go and sit down and either correct them kinda harshly or fix whatever the problem is. But the bright side is that I am learning a lot of how to deal with women so that is probably the reason of why I am here! Most of the other sisters are doing really well right now though so that is good. One companionship has been working with this 22 yr old girl named Claudia, that just barely showed up from Guatemala but she is a really cool lady. She has come to church for like the last month and when the sisters talked with her about baptism again this last week she basically said, no I don’t feel ready so I don’t want to be baptized. The sisters were pretty upset about that, but that means that they are basically done working with her because she didn’t want anything to do with baptism but just wants to keep coming to church. So yesterday I sat down with her during church and talked with her for a little over an hour, and it was a really neat experience. About half way through the "interview" with her she started crying because she said could feel something different that she hasn’t felt before and by the end she basically said she now knows she needs to be baptized and then go to the temple and so I talked with her about being baptized this next Sunday and she said she would pray tonight and last night and then tomorrow morning I am supposed to call her before the sisters go over to visit her and see how her prayers went. She was supposed to ask her Heavenly Father if she should be baptized this Sunday or not so I really hope she receives her answer before tomorrow!! I have a really good feeling she will be getting baptized soon now though, before she didn’t want to be baptized at all, she is a really neat lady and the sisters have worked a lot with her so I just hope she receives an answer soon!! Yesterday during sac meeting we also had to talk again and that went well, I didn’t prepare anything but everything went really well. I am curious of what is going to happen here in a couple weeks with transfers because we have both been here for the same amount of time! So I guess we will see what happens when it gets here! Time seems to keep going faster and faster, and it has started to get more humid and warmer here every day which I am not liking.. but oh well I guess! I hope you have a great week though Mommy, and here before we know it, it will be Mother’s Day again and we will be skyping for the second to last time! Crazy!! I love you!

March 16, 2015

Hey Kimbo!
What are you up to today? How was the trip down to St G? Sounds like it wasn’t really the same as usual, at least with how the games turned out and what not! That’s too bad, hopefully they still have a decent year!! What did Brock do the whole time? Just hang out with all his chicks and go to Fiesta Fun? Sounds like he learned from the great one with the ladies:) I can’t believe we now have a Walmart in SF... That place seems like it is getting huge, Mark Larsen was telling me of some of the things that have come in and I couldn’t believe it! I don’t want SF to get big! Speaking of exercise, this morning I got to go the gym, like Golds gym, and I got pretty swoll. One of my zone leaders is close to going home and President lets missionaries that play sports start going to the gym when they have a few months left in the mission so I went with him today at 4:45! It was super early but we went super hard for a couple hours and it was great! I will probably get to go with him like once a week so that is something to look forward to when I get closer to the end of my mission, I am going to come back all buff:) So I definitely think that I have been put here with all these sisters in my district for many reasons because I have learned many things about how to deal with women.. one thing that I have learned and relearned is that women are absolutely impossible to understand!!! Things will seem like they are going great then boom one calls me crying, or one is upset about something, or one is having problems with her comp... I am definitely learning patience! No but for reals, I am learning a ton and I know I have been put here to learn many things! So I am just trying to look at the things I am learning instead of strangling the sisters! This last week we baptized cute little Josefina, she is 86 and so sweet. All 4 of us were in the font to baptize her and she was so worried about getting in the water because she is sooo scared of water and has never gone fully under water before in her life! Me and another missionary had her by her arms to walk her to the font, then we got to the water and she hurried and wanted to sit down so we put her down and she started saying "me van a soltar! Me van a soltar!" which means, you are going to drop me! And she started getting all worried and didn’t want to get in the water, so I just crouched down and said "hermana no se preocupe porque tenemos musculos!" which means "sister don’t worry because we have muscles!" and she just started laughing and got up and was a trooper from then on out and we dunked her. It was a really neat experience! We have another baptism of a little 9 yr old boy coming up this next Sunday too so we are excited for him also, we always play soccer with him and his brothers and sisters by his house then have lessons after and is really excited to be baptized! Things are going good here and I just cant believe how fast time is going! I feel like I haven’t been here very long but I have already been here in this area for over 4 months! I have no idea what is going to happen this next transfer so we will see what happens! Oh and with the scripts, I am thinking having them separate, because I already have a quad here with me if I need one. Thank you so much mommy!! I hope you have a great week, I love you!!

Hey Kimbo What’s going on up there in ol Spanish Fork? What’s new? That is a super sad story about that lady that crashed and fell into the river.. I can’t imagine seeing that as a police officer. It's good to hear that the little girl that got rescued is doing alright though, I hope she doesn’t have any problems and that turns out well. I am jealous of Brock’s jersey, those are like the throwback unis!! Will he get to keep that jersey or will he have to give it back? How has he been playing in his games and practice so far? Keep me updated with that little guy! I remember the very first time the boys went down to watch Sunshine, just us and the Olson’s. That was like 9 years ago I believe, or longer!! What is the tourney that the high school team is doing this year? Will Brock be playing at all down there? That is good to hear Brock enjoyed his game, I know who Nate Binks is and he seems like a really good kid. So it sounds like Ty and his girl are getting somewhat serious.. What do you think? I haven’t heard anything from him for like a month or so. Send me a pic of her when you can... I need to see if I approve of her:) How long is he going to be down there with TJ? Well this last week has been a bit crazy but it has been really good... I feel like since I grew up with only boys in the family that I got put with only sisters in my district to learn how to deal with them! I swear their problems never end... EVER!! I fix a problem, then everything will be great for a couple days, then boom another big problem.. Things are going good, just I feel like there is something always going on with at least one sister. The sisters I have in my district are great and I am definitely learning a ton from them.. Like how to deal with girls!;) Josefina, the 86 yr old lady we are teaching didn’t get baptized this last week because she has family coming down today so we are have the baptism tonight at 5, we are super excited to have this baptism! She is so old but she is the cutest little Mexican grandma! We will have 4 elders in the font to help put her under the water and I am just praying it goes well the first time because she is already super scared of the water and I feel like if it doesn’t work the first time, that she is just going to say nope I am done and not let it happen again so everything needs to go great the first time!! I will send some pics of her next week!! This last week I can’t even remember what happened, things are just going by so fast right now and if I am not out working, the second I get home I am usually on the phone with sisters trying to work with them/fix their problems but I am loving everything and I am learning so much. I love my mission and everything that I am learning. I am just worried this last half of it is going to go by to fast so I am trying to somehow slow everything down but it just doesn’t seem to work. I will send some pics because I honestly cant remember what even happened this last week. But thank you so much for everything mommy!! I know I wouldn’t be here where I am without you and without the strong testimony you have always had. I know I wouldn’t have kept going to church and kept on the right track without you pushing me and helping me! I love you and I am so thankful for you and Dad. I don’t think I realized how great of a family I truly had before the mission but now that I look back, I had the best parents a kid could ask for and I love our family. I hope you have a great week mommy!
